Privacy notice
What this site keeps about you, and why
Last updated 30 September 2026
Who is responsible
This site and the R2Project plug-ins are run by A. E. Cobley, an individual in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the information described here. For anything about your data, email aecobley@googlemail.com.
Downloading plug-ins
You don't need to give any personal details to browse this site or to download a plug-in. Installers are hosted on GitHub, so when you download one your browser connects to GitHub and its own privacy statement applies.
When you click a download button, this site records the date and time, which file, the page you came from and your browser's description of itself (its “user agent”). It does not record your IP address with it. This tells us which plug-ins are used.
Like almost every web server, ours keeps an access log of requests, which includes the IP address they came from. It is used only to keep the site running and secure, and is deleted after 90 days.
Getting an activation code
When you ask for a free activation code we keep:
- your name — the code is made for it, and it's shown back to you in the plug-in;
- your email address — so a lost code can be found and sent to you again;
- the code, its number and the date it was made.
We use these to provide the code you asked for and to help you get it back if you lose it. That is the legal basis: it's necessary to provide the service you request (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
To stop the form being abused, each request is also counted against your IP address and your email address for a short time. These are stored only in a scrambled form (a keyed hash) that can't be turned back into the address, and are deleted after 30 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service working (Article 6(1)(f)).
We don't use your email address for newsletters or marketing, we don't sell or share your details, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies
The activation pages use one cookie, JSESSIONID, set by the
web server so the form and the page showing your code belong to the same
visit. It is deleted when you close your browser or after ten minutes of
inactivity, and it's needed for the page to work, so it doesn't need your
consent. There are no other cookies.
Who else handles it
The site and its database run on Google Cloud, which stores the data on our behalf under Google's data processing terms. No one else receives it, unless the law requires us to disclose it.
How long we keep it
- Your name, email and codes: for as long as the codes can be used, so they can be recovered — or until you ask us to delete them.
- The scrambled request counts: 30 days.
- The web server access log: 90 days.
If you ask us to delete your details, a code you've already entered keeps working in the plug-in: it is checked on your computer, not against our records. We just won't be able to find it for you again.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how we use it. You can also object to how we use it, and ask for it in a portable form. Email aecobley@googlemail.com; we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If what we collect or why changes — for example if paid licences are added — this notice will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
